Truth and Ideals - Zekrom and Reshiram Pumpkins

Happy Black 2 and White 2 release day everyone! Instead of playing with my shiny new games, guess what I spent the day doing?

Zekrom and Reshiram, in all their pumpkiny glory! Once I heard that B2W2 were coming out in October, I knew they had to be carved. I had originally planned to carve this due two years ago, but had to call it off because one of the pumpkins rotted on me. So I ended up carving Helmarock King instead.

I tried a whole bunch of fun new things with these guys. I knew I wanted them to contrast, so I went all out shading on Reshiram and carved out a bunch of lines for Zekrom. I also got experimental: with Reshiram I tried my hand at leaving an outline on the outside boarder of the shading, and for Zekrom I played with some subtle marker darkening of specific spots. They both turned out really well, although the photography ended up a little disappointing.

Did I mention it took a full 10 hours just for carving alone, not including all the gutting, pattern transferring, and photography? Class in the morning is going to be a nightmare...
