I'm much happier with how Zekrom turned out. Not that I don't like my Reshiram, but Zekrom is just cooler looking. Very badass.

Took about 4 hours to carve, just because there were so many little detailed lines to carve out. My poor carpet is covered in little pumpkin noodles. I used my marker for the darker spots. I don't try and overuse that technique, but I wanted Zekrom to really contrast with the all shading route of Reshiram so I used it to give depth without lightening areas. And I'm quite pleased with the results. It's nice and subtle I think.

Fun fact, his face is actually got a bit of rot going on. That's part of the reason these didn't get carved yesterday, so they'd be in time for B2W2's release proper. There was a whole bunch of bad juju going on yesterday...

I have a question, for the lines on zekrom's body, how did you do those?

It's pretty easy actually! But it's a bit hard to describe. I have the pattern transferred onto the pumpkin with transfer paper. Then using my exacto knife, I shallowly cut along the outsides of the lines, at an inward angle. You can then pull out the thin strip of pumpkin that you just created, leaving a kind of v shaped shallow cut in the pumpkin. So essentially you're cutting out the lines from the surface of the pumpkin, without cutting through the entire pumpkin. I hope that makes sense!
